Readers, use the library instead of returning purchased books at Amazon. There are libraries in the US where you can buy a non resident digital library card, even outside the US. Libraries have Kindle books, eBooks, and audiobooks. dailydot.com/unclick/amazon-ki

@Sunspot

Also, not one of them had yet explained how it’s anyone else’s business who we have sex with or marry. Against other people’s morals so the state should regulate it? Fuck off with that.

Self-care is ongoing. It's not a one and done fix for everything. Take care of yourself today, and tomorrow, and the next day.

I watched a YouTube video reeling off dozens of trailers of the "best releases" in 2022 (They failed to include Good luck to you Leo Grande, so shows what they know). My gosh, the amount of utter and total crap in there is astounding (Prey, Bullet Train, The Menu). I'll be picking my cinema visits very carefully this year. I really can't be doing with mindless horribleness and adding injury to insult pay good money for it.

More practically, don’t mistake being outraged for taking action. They can both drain your energy, but the former is a destructive emotion, and the internet has been shaped to amplify it. Flip the script. Do some shit.

Optimism isn't the belief, when things are going poorly, that everything will be ok

It's simply the belief that it's possible to make things better, even though they're bad right now

After hearing the testimonies of Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss today, I loathe 45 more than ever. This evil individual must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. #DOJ do your job! #IndictTrump #BlueVoices #TrueBlue #DemVoice1 #Rabbithole independent.co.uk/news/world/a

What I'd like is a web app, as lightweight and static as possible, that lets me drop markdown notes into a folder, which it then compiles into a single page at scheduled intervals.

I'll make it if I have to, but if something like that is already available, then I'd be grateful if someone were to point me to it.

I’m in the National Poetry Library, and there was no fine for my books which were 2 years and 4 months overdue. I checked them out the week before the first lockdown in March 2020. The librarian said “Ah, its lovely to have them back!” Which has really made my day. I think that’s my personal bookend to the pandemic. They were a Stevie Smith collection and an Alice Walker collection, if you were wondering.
