Did not have “job interview with AI ‘recruiter’” on my Shitty Uses of AI bingo card, but here we are.
Because the job application process was not demeaning enough already….
Update: Gawd that was weird.
I expected it to be a few simple yes/no, yrs of experience w/X-type questions, but no, they were actually trying to do a real “tell us about your experience working with < >” job interview. With a fricking robot.
Robot: Do you have any questions for me?
Me: Has anyone ever died of irony while being interviewed by an HR Robot?
(IRL I just said “no,” because I wanted to get the hell off the phone with this thing)
: So, walk me through your resume.
Sounds worse than I imagined.
@cainmark Yep, it was def worse than I had imagined. Kind of creeped out by the experience tbh.
@Lizbon uggh, I’m sorry
Trained by Sarah and John Connor.
@cainmark Felt more like HAL 9000.
Why I hate misuse of LLM.
@Lizbon
If a company can't be bothered to recruit and interview people then why should one bother applying, you are clearly not that important to them, there are plenty of companies out there that will advertise and recruit properly.
One thing about face to face or even I guess video interviews is you get to see the other person, you also get to identify common interests which can help lower the tone of the interview making both sides more relaxed, leading to better outcomes for both as in better chance of landing the job but the company also hiring the right person.
Just my idea here.
@zleap a) What makes you think I applied to a job knowing ahead of time that they were using AI to do interviews?!? b) The company actually hiring was using a recruiter to fill the role - the recruiting agency was the one using the AI.
I was replying more generally and not assuming that, sorry
@zleap Pretty sure no one would disagree with your general take - but companies aren’t exactly going to advertise that they’re doing this because it’s such a bad look.
