The score for the THX “Deep Note” sound, made public for the first time after 35 years:
Okay, I'm done with this "summer" thing. Kindly sod off, and get the rainy 10°C days back, please.
Agh. I'd forgotten how much I absolutely hate summer.
In my opinion, any temperature above 16°C is absolutely deplorable.
The code did a thing! Two things, evidently!
Great, now Grafana's unhappy.
the new osms-nrod code: it tried, and then promptly failed.
Argh, this database insert is really slow, because there's a lot of data.
I should probably rewrite it to just use COPY FROM...(but that requires work and debugging)
$ cargo build --release
alright, time for a cup of tea!
of course it's 100% entirely necessary to wait 2 minutes for nothing to happen now. nope, they didn't think of adding a "force stop" option. that would be sensible.
ah, I dun goofed: I ran `sudo halt` on a VM before stopping it through the web portal. of course, halting a VM doesn't actually power it off via ACPI, so now the stop command is just idling there. ;_;
CW thoughts, here I go Show more
My TL has become significantly cluttered with non-CW'd content that really could use it. I rarely ever *need* a content warning to protect myself, but damn that was one of my favorite parts when I joined up a year ago.
There's something really nice about a curated, self-aware TL. CWs as a general habit require you (or me at least) to stop for a moment and consider what you're putting out for others to read, and that has no downsides imo. That's just good human praxis.
Server-side screwup of the day: I didn't put anything in /etc/resolv.conf and then wondered why everything was mysteriously broken and timing out.
alright, go go gadget potentially destructive operation!
Right, that's it. NixOS doesn't want to build the latest version of matrix-synapse, so I'm just going to reinstall matrix-synapse on my Arch box instead.
That'll show the damned thing.
