is better than nasty ol’ Markdown. And indeed easier to learn/use ;)

Plus the php version of Textile in has some nice additional abilities, like definition lists and, my favorite, endnotes.

But, you can install the wet_markdown filter and then choose to use Textile or Markdown on an article-by-article basis. Best of both worlds.
