There are so many aspects of me that I always struggle describing myself in a few words.
I can be silly and cute.
I can be logical, nerdy, detailed, analytic.
I can be dreamy and spiritual.
I can be creative, musical, artistic, emotional.
I can be deep and meaningful.
By being too logical, I can get stuck. By being too spiritual, I can lose my footing.
Be a rock and a feather.
In joining this community, I seek to evolve and learn, to inspire and to be inspired.
Love to all.
I'm trying to make reading and writing regular parts of my life again. A year ago I started writing at flirtingwithnihilism.com, which turned into something more personal than I originally intended. And thanks to thriftbooks.com, I've started reading physical books again on the cheap.
Writing Exchange update
#WritingExchange is now on Mastodon v2.9!
Among other things, this brings an optional single-column layout, which you can set by unchecking the "Enable advanced web interface" option in your user settings.
I've also updated our custom stylesheet here on Writing Exchange to keep the wider compose area in both the single- and multi-column views. (But let me know if anything looks funky.)
I will be starting the upgrade to v2.9.0 for all Mastodon instances hosted on Masto.host.
There should be less than 1 minute of downtime.
You can read about the release here: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2019/06/mastodon-2.9/ or the changelog here: https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/releases/tag/v2.9.0

Hello world of Mastodon. I am new here and will now introduce myself. I’m a 40 year old journalist living in Stockholm, Sweden. I’m a dad of three (got twins), I like books, blogging, swimrun and alternative music. Next week I start a new job as news chief at a magazine and website covering real estate and construction businesses as well as urban planning.
Should we ask the Internet Archive not to archive Writing.Exchange toots, as mentioned here?
Fun thing to do at the library: walk through the aisles until a book's spine catches your eye. Ideally it's a pretty well-worn book; for this technique to work it needs to have had a fair number of readers over the years.
Grasp the book's spine and hold it so the pages hang down. Find a an air gap where the pages naturally hang open, and read those pages.
Today I found this lovely passage on randomness/entropy in a book called "Paradox" by Jim Al-Khalili.
Hmm, wonder what's going on with these sites... #WriteFreely instances with different branding and a suspiciously large number of users / posts 🤔
nature, words, dogs, software, privacy, music, and the moment.
