I'm extremely pleased to launch Run Your Own Social: How to run a small social network site for you friends.
This is a guide book to running a small, tight-knit federated social network server. It comes from my year of experience running Friend Camp. It's focused largely on SOCIAL solutions, though it does touch on the technical.
I've tried to keep it technology-neutral, and it should be a pretty easy read for anyone who's been on the fediverse for a while.
Inactive Writing Exchange accounts
As we're up to 995 users here on #WritingExchange, I'm going to make room for new users by removing accounts that are at least two years old and completely unused (i.e. signed up, logged in, never came back).
Yo, frens. What do you want in a Moderator Companion App?
What do you want to be able to do?
There are so many aspects of me that I always struggle describing myself in a few words.
I can be silly and cute.
I can be logical, nerdy, detailed, analytic.
I can be dreamy and spiritual.
I can be creative, musical, artistic, emotional.
I can be deep and meaningful.
By being too logical, I can get stuck. By being too spiritual, I can lose my footing.
Be a rock and a feather.
In joining this community, I seek to evolve and learn, to inspire and to be inspired.
Love to all.
Writing Exchange update
#WritingExchange is now on Mastodon v2.9!
Among other things, this brings an optional single-column layout, which you can set by unchecking the "Enable advanced web interface" option in your user settings.
I've also updated our custom stylesheet here on Writing Exchange to keep the wider compose area in both the single- and multi-column views. (But let me know if anything looks funky.)
I will be starting the upgrade to v2.9.0 for all Mastodon instances hosted on Masto.host.
There should be less than 1 minute of downtime.
You can read about the release here: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2019/06/mastodon-2.9/ or the changelog here: https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/releases/tag/v2.9.0
