Not sure if / when we'll merge this. While I'm a fan of new functionality like this that doesn't add complexity for the end user, it does complicate things for admins, with another configuration value and additional setup needed to run in production.

What does everyone think?

On a long train ride, from DC to San Antonio. Apparently I'm in the mood to code for fun this week, because I just added Gopher support in : writefreely.org/pull/273

I will be starting the upgrade to v3.1.2 for all Mastodon servers hosted on Masto.host

There will be an under 30 seconds downtime during upgrade.

v3.1.2 brings some fixes and a security patch, you can read the release here: github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/

Any issues or questions please let me know.

Steps 1-3 complete. I held off on code as long as possible. I'm now writing a basic static site generator for this mixtape 😄

Also a blog post is expected.

I mean the whole point is to put a little effort into it, so I'm thinking:

- build the playlist on streaming service
- buy each song and download
- rename MP3s in order
- upload to personal site
- maybe add a nice HTML player? make each track downloadable? zip them all? idk this is getting complicated
- send her the URL

Thoughts?

It's the first time I'm doing this in the streaming age. Last "mixtape" I got was a screenshot of an Apple Music playlist, which I then recreated in another streaming service.

How do people create platform-agnostic mixtapes these days?

We're working on a redesign of the admin dashboard, and would love to get your feedback!

writefreely.org/pull/264

This adds some nice navigation, a more user-friendly configuration page, and lets you optionally hide technical app stuff if you don't need to see it.

The client could be generic / flexible enough to handle all kinds of Objects, Actors, and Activity's. And I think it'd be pretty neat to have a desktop app (for example) dedicated only to socializing.

It'd be sort of like Trillian or Pidgin, uniting a bunch of your accounts behind the scenes, but you'd just enter in URLs or fedi handles to navigate around the social web.

I keep coming back to the thought that the fediverse isn't really meant for the standard web browser. It needs its own dedicated native client, a "fediverse browser".

Hi writing.exchange!

I'm looking for a bit of . I'm working on a book project that follows a group of (fictional) & folks over the course of a year. It will have a strong focus on their fierce independence, creativity, resourcefulness & the power of disabled solidarity.

In order to make their stories real and diverse I'm conducting ~20 (paid) interviews with a variety of disabled and chronically ill people. Where is the best place to post asking about this?

Have any input on the in ? We're working on small, gradual improvements now, and we'd love to hear your feedback!

Besides not supporting Amazon, which I enjoy, an added benefit of getting books from other online sellers is that they aren't all bent and banged up when they get to me. Have had two good experiences with Barnes and Noble now.

It's a small, maybe insignificant thing. But part of the joy of buying physical books for me is seeing the wear and tear they accumulate over time.

:fediverse: "Suggestion: a custom URL scheme handler as a streamlined UX for cross-instance interactions on the web"

@grishka and @matt are discussing some important issues with the UX of the #fediverse over on the SocialHub forum. Would love to see more progress on this front. The UX of cross instance/software interaction is quite horrible at the moment and is something we really need to move forward on. Please come give your constructive ideas here:
