Pinned toot

I'm Misha.

I'm a programmer and designer but I've got dreams of being a writer. Last year I decided to take my hobby a little more seriously and start learning.

In addition to the work I'm doing for a writing class, I have two novels in draft state, one of which I hope to have fully revised and publishable by the end of the year.

Some of my short works are here: mishafrankenstein.tumblr.com

As far as interests, I like spooky/Halloween type stuff and I listen to a lot of metal.

Another thing I've learned about myself from my writing class is that I'm a storyteller, not a writer. I think that's why I struggle so hard with poetry. It's more important to me that my syntax is clear rather than entirely creative.

I remembered that Anglish exists so for funzies I looked it up again. If anyone is writing a fantasy novel and needs a cool idea, I think that it would work perfectly for Dwarven speech.

One of the things I've noticed after taking this writing class is that I have three voices that I write in. One I consider to be 'my voice' and another is the voice I write in for assignments which aren't creative works. Entertainingly, they are not even close to the same voice.

One of my favorite things that some people on Masto do is put their politics behind a CW.

I really don’t like poetry but I’m glad I’m being forced out of my comfort zone a bit. I didn’t enjoy it but I certainly learned a lot.

Presented my poem to my writing class tonight. It went okay. I damaged it by overthinking the format and making it visually work rather than focusing on the actual content.

However, I loved my ending and so did everyone else. Doesn’t need a ton a revision so I’ll post it sometime tomorrow.

No wife tonight which means it’s time to turn up the jams and do some embroidery.

Been a while since I made any art type stuff. Maybe I'll finally get around to doing a real self portrait.

In the style of Nagel, of course.

About a fourth of the way through re-reading the novel. There's a lot of stuff where I'm happy with *what* was said but not *how* it was said. Thankfully, that's a pretty easy thing to revise.

I haven't been good about my revisions so far. The first thing is that I need to read the whole thing through once. Something that I should have been done with by now.

Here’s some photos of my battle jacket. All the patches were made by hand out of the sleeves that I cut off. It’s just acrylic paint applied with stencils. The big patch was a t-shirt.

I didn’t know how to sew before starting this project. Turns out I love it.

Figured I should probably make a few posts so people know what I’m about.

Here’s some photos from a trash guitar that I refinished last year.
