I love pre-season hockey because it's such a mix of vets and guys I've never heard of.

I just posted this album review and I really liked the Jung stuff I managed to cram in: (glad I read a Very Short Introduction to Jung!)

"Part of the process of writing is not so much to explain your vision but to discover it. I think that’s what you do when you write: You find out what you think." ―Robert Towne

I really appreciate makers who talk about having full-time jobs:

I feel like a lot of artist/writers won't admit to not being able to live off of their creative work. It feels healthy to hear the honesty.

Social media should just skip all this "oh is this account a bot?" confusion & go straight to the endgame: have every single post be an unedited video of the author delivering their message while holding a copy of today's newspaper.

sometimes I go to my spam folder and imagine I'm the luckiest person in the world.

Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains is 52. That makes me feel so ridiculously old.

your company might contribute to foss but

- are you unionized?
- why not?

I just installed Mint on my old ThinkPad (T420i) and Mate is a nice desktop environment. It's been pretty simple to manage everything. I'm not dumping GNOME but Mate is like a slightly more posh Xfce.

It cracks me up how people don't get The Athletic:

Sports fans want to read about sports. Newspapers stopped covering sports. Sports fans are willing to pay. Everyone is like "The Athletic is no different from a newspaper!" But it is, in that they're covering things like hockey and not just running wire copy and national stories.

I don't know to what extent their revenue model works but the content is great.

It's a good morning when you have every disc burner in the house going.

Welcome to the Fediverse! is a community project to help people find others with common interests.

GIve it a try? :blobsathy:

It's so weird how the keep re-retiring numbers. I think they need a new word other than retire.

Finally finished my two blog posts on why I’m weaning myself away from Twitter in favour of Mastodon:

What’s wrong with Twitter?

What is Mastodon and why should I use it?

if you're new and worried about your follower numbers, don't! mastodon is more about the community and having fun with your friends. you can drop the toxic thought process where you viewed yourself as a brand on Twitter.

Use your local and federated timelines! Talk to people if something catches your eye! Don't gamify the experience here, be considerate. Think about being part of the local & federated community instead of figuring out how to go viral. Mastodon is super fun without those habits.

LIBRARIANS OF MASTODON (freakin' killer punk band name, by the way):

Check out Trunk, a list of Mastodon lists on Community Wiki! They've got lists of different people to follow on Mastodon but the GLAM lists are either pretty short or non-existent. Hit up the Wiki and get added to the list(s) of your choice!
