hello, I'm looking to connect with other poets and short fiction writers. I'm an unschooled amateur keen on getting other people into the joy of writing and creative work. i might post some stuff on here every now and then.

the little bottle of white flower oil on my father's bedside table is perfectly clear, with a drawing of innocent, green plants on the label and a deep blue cap on top. it's used to soothe pain. i look at it and immediately wish they made such a thing for the heart. humming a tune in my throat while writing, i realize: these are the only balms i know of.

Frustrated - when I
Don’t have anything to say?
Lack of words today.

the horizon, was once a window
where I sat and dreamed.
lazily watching a summer day,
melt itself down like spilled ice cream.
I'd write and watch for sandflies
play against the screen.
then finally, I'd give myself away
to the world beyond my scene.

"A poem can sometimes feel like something hidden behind a door: the door opens and you are invited into something strange—maybe something confounding, disturbing—in some way that is felt, beyond intellect."

-- Dana Levin

@infernusgoatus There is a reason why a lot of historians use the amount of art created in a society as a measure of how advanced it was. Not only doesn't it rely on technological advancement, but it quite accurately measures how much free income a country had to engage in things that did not result in food or other tangible profit.

Wonder how much art we're missing out on because artists have to struggle to survive.

A note made in Reykjavík a long time ago: "There's a difference between being interested and being interesting. When you live around Nature that could snuff you out in a moment, is demonstrably visually constantly larger than you, being more interested rather than trying to be more interesting is probably an excellent survival response."

"You know, it's interesting, they always tell people to write about what they know about. But you don't have to know about things, you just have to be able to imagine them really well." -- Ursula Le Guin
