#Linux #apps for #writing, #editing that, as a Mac user wanting to make the jump, I'll probably try at some point:
Manuskript (A Scrivner alternative. Critical!)

OStoryBook (Another Scrivner-like knock-off. Not as polished in the UI, but one to be aware of.)

Scribus (Desktop publishing. Might be the alternative to Mellel for Mac.)

If anyone knows of other such apps for Linux, let me know. And I mean something more than just a text editor -- apps that fill a particular niche in the publishing production line are of interest.
Here's another, just found...
Fountain, a screenwriter's app for Linux
Bibisco (Seems more suited to fiction writers than nonfiction, I'm the latter, but interesting character development tools that could be useful for narrative nonfiction.)

Uber Writer (An iA Writer knock-off, and Iove iA Writer. Promising.)

There are other 'text editor' options too, like Ghostwriter (markdown) and FocusWriter (.txt, rich text...) but it just depends what your writing objective is and what you will tolerate in a tool.
