‘Everyone is breaking the law right now’: #GDPR compliance efforts are falling [way] short

"Pretty much everyone is breaking the law right now," said Denmark-based media analyst Thomas Baekdal. “There is not a single consent dialogue box anywhere that is easy to understand. We [publishers] have not really realized how much this is going to hit us. Everyone is trying to make things work the way they used to, rather than thinking about privacy.”
@wion
Thanks. Great timing!
I'm in the middle of setting up my own #blog using #WordPress. After fiddling with it, I found hard on myself. I think WP is not really #GDPR ready. Very difficult to find the way turn all cookies off. I guess I need to find the #alternative platform 🤔
I've been using Textpattern since 2004. Helpful and friendly community. It's fully gdpr compliant.
Otherwise, maybe a static engine is what you need... something like Hugo, maybe, with the Forestry CMS layer.

If I wasn't already a long-time user of Txp, I might try Hugo, but I'm a huge Textile fan, which Txp supports.
@wion
Text pattern looks very pleasant. I like to keep it simple so it will do! I am so glad that they have an installation instruction manual. Now I feel I can do this!
Thanks for letting me know!
Definitely join the forum...
I suggest you use 'Hiro' or 'hnb', if it's still available. That way I can recognize you.
If you have any questions, no matter how silly you may think they are, just post them in the forum. People will help.
I am 'Destry' in the forum. You'll see me all over.
@wion
Thanks! I'll do?

Why I put "?" ... I meant "!" instead 😕
We haven't seen the legal bloodshed yet. But it's coming. I'm sure of it.
The intent of #WP29, I believe, was give controllers some time to get their bearings, maybe hand out some warnings so they don't get complacent. But I'll wager by the end of this year, the legal suits will start being dealt with hard intent, beginning with those who were warned and who garnered data subject complaints.
