Still on the house hunt. Considering a sizable one that just came up but needs a lot of work inside. The elderly husband died of covid 3 months ago and the children are putting the widower in a retirement home. A weird thing... but, we need a house.

Another concern...

There are two huge, beautiful pines in the yard. Literally sentinels in the neighborhood. Obviously there before the house. But the roots are lifting up and through the driveway badly. From what I’m reading, cutting the roots is bad for trees this big; they can blow down or get root infected and slow die. Long-term advice seems to suggest cutting down the trees. I hate that idea. Not to mention the extra cost of an arborist, and what a hole it will leave in the sky.
