The #Linux app is out now!
Version 1.0 has the basics:
* Simple editor
* Auto-saving single draft
* Choose between three fonts (serif, sans-serif, monospace)
* Dark mode (on platforms that support it)
* Save draft as another file
* Publish anonymously to Write.as and manage posts via the CLI
Download / install it here: https://write.as/apps/desktop

For #Arch users, the GTK app and command-line interface are also in the AUR:
If you'd like to help get it into the community repo, please give it a vote there.
How the heck is it that you can open source a desktop app but the server somehow isn't ready to be Free Software?
@cathal Are you genuinely interested, or asking rhetorically? (Sorry to ask, it's hard to tell via plain text.)
I started following Write.as on the basis that it would shortly be opening the codebase to enable user trust and participation. But instead, that's never happened, yet somehow several other significant projects have been freed. That says to me that making Write.as Liberating Software is not a priority. You might understand my disappointment.
@cathal Well, this is why I estimate(d) that going open source will be done by the end of the year -- it factors in the existing priorities I had before I added federation, e.g. customer support / keeping users happy, delivering previously promised features, fixing critical bugs, etc.
I appreciate that many people think it should be done before then, but all I'd ask is for everyone to hold their disappointment until the end of the year, when I either have or haven't delivered on my promises.
