I've been slowly splitting off from Write.as, so it can continue evolving as its own healthy FOSS project. We've been building WF-compatible API clients like our Swift library, and recently moved the code to its own GitHub org.

Now I'd like to give people the option to financially support without having to pay for a Write.as subscription. So today I'm launching an Open Collective page for anyone who would like to support the project.

While the financial incentives behind Write.as (the hosted service) and WriteFreely (the software project) are largely aligned regarding end users, the former only serves one "admin" (me), while the latter serves a wide range of admins and community leaders.

Primarily for that reason, I think the project needs more financial independence; my hope being that it'll produce a better tool for everyone using WF in the long run.
