I actually clicked through to X/Twitter to watch the video (it'll let you do that without any login), and I started to wonder: how could anyone produce a video of themselves being so cruel and nasty to workers without feeling like utter pieces of shit?

Then I realized, it's easy if you don't see workers as human beings. 🙁

The problem with using AI is, it doesn't matter if 95% of what it tells you is right. That still means:

1. 5% of it is wrong.
2. You don't know *which* 5%.
3. So you have ti distrust *all of it*.

Not fond of "hallucinate", because it implies some intelligence, which is not actually there. Really, it's just fucking up and making mistakes.

An AI "artist" is trying to get the Copyright Office to grant copyright on an image he created with Midjourney. The CO is sticking to established law stating that copyright protects "works of human authorship" (cf. the "monkey selfie" case a few years back).

The EFF agrees the Copyright Office "has pretty much been getting it right."

Another day, another case of people having their creative work "opted in" to generative AI without their actual consent.

If Udemy really thought people wanted to have their classes scraped to teach LLMs, they would have given them a longer period, or made it opt-in instead of opt-out. The fact they didn't speaks volumes.

@sohan People are using the ✨ emoji for AI? WTF.

1) I'm glad I haven't seen this before. (Yet another of the many data points in this thread that support the idea that maybe this isn't nearly as widespread as AI companies would like.)

2) I'm just going to keep on using it like I have been, for things that are sparkly, shiny, glittery and altogether make people want to go "Wheeee!" ✨

Fuck AI companies.

And yes, both 🎱 and 💩, and especially the 💩🎱 digraph, seem great for #AI.

I just tried to leave the following comment on Mozilla's feedback page regarding their new AI "feature". Sadly, it asked me to log in *after* I hit Submit, despite the previous page saying I only needed to be logged in if I wanted to add an attachment. So now I'm even more unhappy.

Anyway, @mozilla, you don't seem to want to hear feedback on this, but I'm @-ing you anyway.

Comment comprises the rest of this thread... 1/3
