This response is disappointing:

“Some of their modeling has come back with a high confidence rate that the engine is in deep waters, and it’s probably irretrievable. So, we’re still asking people to call in reference to the smaller debris, but the chances that we will recover any large heavy pieces are slim to none.”

But unsurprising because, space tourism:

“We find ourselves in the middle of a space frontier...”

I sketched these jars of Bahamian guava jam while working on a story about Abaco. Guava pastes, jams, and jellies are quite common in the Caribbean, and in the Bahamas, guava jelly or jam is pretty commonly used in different recipes. But in my family, guava jellies and pastes took on special meaning when my younger brother came up with a simple recipe: guava paste or jelly, yellow cheddar and Ritz crackers. #travelsketch #sketch #bahamas

I took this image of a female Tiger shark last year, in october at 80 miles to Bimini. This image went with my film "Face To Face: Overcoming Fear With Sharks" I love sharks, all the sharks.

Sharks are the super-predators of the oceans and the terror of the Western world. They are often perceived as bloodthirsty killers. This fear is heightened every time a shark attack hits the headlines. In response, beaches around the world are closed, nets are set up and sharks are systematically slaughtered. Living with sharks seems incompatible with our new lifestyles.
Yet one country has made a radically different choice: the Bahamas. This paradise archipelago, which welcomes nearly 7 million visitors every year, has declared́ its waters "shark sanctuaries". How do locals and tourists manage to live with these large predators? Would it be possible to get close to those considered to be man-eaters?
To answer this question, photographer Rodolphe Guignard takes us to the heart of shark territory. Accompanied by experts and scientists, he dives right up close to the sharks to capture some surprising interactions. An intense face-to-face encounter that reveals the true face of sharks, the opposite of their sad reputation

here, then, is the crux of it

this wave of guava
that embraces me in the backyard
this melody of sugar cane
that makes me shut my eyes
this mellow coolness
of the avocado on my tongue
this terrible delight
of salt water about shoulders

here is the crux of it

the joy i feel atop this hill
watching the sea tickle reef
this giddiness that comes
with the coconut water spilling
