With a cycling buddy, I drove 900km to the small town of Glen Innes for a gravel ride in the Northern Tablelands in a region of northern New South Wales called New England.

I've never been here before and, to be honest, it's a lot like the Southern Highlands which is much closer. It's also very British with lots of Scottish and Welsh references.

The ride was organised by Goodness Gravel and was a much smaller and more personal ride than the Classic series.

We completed the 75km ride in good time and good spirits, despite some strong and relentless headwinds.

We've got a few more days here and are planning some riding/exploring tomorrow.

By the way I'm monetizing my hobbies again

After work 🌃, I went out riding.
🌇🚴‍♀️ Yes! On a weekday! I give myself points for that. ⭐😊

Of course, the glorious goal was dinner-breakfast. 🌞☕

I ran into the Big Boys 🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴 doing their Thursday ride around their usual morning #exercise route.

"Evelyn! 👋😃 You alone? Come along. We're having #breakfast at [the buffet* place]."

Sure!

A simple, proper breakfast for just 185 pesos. Well, it's free coz 1 guy generously paid for everybody. 😅 Yeah, I went for seconds. 😋👍 #bikes #cycling #food

OK. Really falling out of love with carbon on bikes.

This is an Enve Gravel fork steerer after 10000km. The Hope headset bearings (which I do count as consumables) have officially outlived the fork.

Just glad I did an inspection. With the bearings being fine still, I could have gone on riding on this.

After two years, I finally got my beloved Surly Krampus back in working order and took it for a spin in Sipoonkorpi National Park, which is right next to Helsinki and only about 30 minutes away from where I live. One day, I'll take this baby back to Lapland for a bikepacking trip. Maybe I’ll try to find some pics from my last trip and post them here 🤔

As a kid i always liked motorcycles. There's something very freeing about riding them which you cannot get in a car. When I was 17, i started to learn riding by myself. Later one of my elder brother, helped me how to ride in heavy traffic, which is common occurrence in india. Today I'm grateful for knowing how to ride bikes effectively. Yesterday, i look this shot which i found quite pretty.

The Mamachari, pictured below with an electric motor, is great for getting around with kids. When the kids get too big you can remove the seat and put pannier bags or a basket on the back. I have seen some with a second child seat on the front. Bikeshares could add some of these to their fleet. Mamachari is a compound slang word in Japanese. Charinko is slang for bicycle because of the bell sound "cha-rin" and of course mama is English. #Bikes #Mamachari

Our politicians keep telling us what we want or don't want, but when it comes down to it, most people know that cities need to be more green.

Good for you, Hobart, following similar recent stories in Paris and Vancouver.
