This damp Canberra evening I listened to Luminescence Chamber Singers perform Gesualdo’s Tenebrae Responsories.
Luminescence marked their 10–year anniversary with a flawless rendition of this astonishing masterpiece. The high proportion of excellent musicians in tonight’s audience shows Canberra’s artistic richness—a lifeless capital city we are not. #classicalmusic #canberra

On a whim I decided to go watch the Australian Rally Championship season kick off here in Canberra.

A friend and I headed out into the bush to Canberra's south (about 20 min out of town) and joined a throng of 100+ spectators.

Watching a rally is a bit strange - you stand around waiting, then you can hear the cars coming a fair way off and everyone surges to their feet. The cars arrive in a cloud of petrol, dust and noise and a few seconds later they're gone and the whole thing resets.

The spectator spot is usually chosen for its drama and this was no exception - cars climbed a slope into a dusty left hander.

The ABC got some great footage of the following day's special stage, which is much more spectator-friendly but I've attached my footage for your ten seconds of enjoyment.
