At the same time, the game is impressively solid, not overly hard (shocking on its own, honestly), beautiful considering limitations. If I played it as a little girl (before I was born...) I would have loved it. Still enjoyed it, but would recommend a version with automap. Frater Corvus<p>Folks, I’m looking at the inside of a Game Gear which does not appear to boot anymore.<br>First there were artifacts on the screen, now it’s just a black screen and no sound — and no apparent sign of booting a cartridge.</p><p>I’m not an electronics person, but I seem to spot some signs of corrosion and my current hope is that maybe cleaning it and a few simple solders may fix the whole thing?</p><p>What do you think? Any beginner steps I could read up and apply to attempt reviving this old lady?</p><p>Generally I’d like to be better at this, there is some sort of a backlog of fix ups I need to get round to at some point in my life…</p><p><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>diy</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/gamegear" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gamegear</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/repair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>repair</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/askfedi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>askfedi</span></a></p>
