I studied her in puzzlement as purple tears rann down her scaled cheeks. "Your boon," she said, and lowered her head to her paws, great tail ckrling around her.

"I..."

"Do not understand," she rumbled sadly, cutting me off. Her tears started steaming on the stones. "No one ever does. My boon is my heart, my vulnerability. I allow you to see it. The question is, what will you do with the knowledge of my sorrow?" #MastoPrompt #MicroPrompt #WSS366,

I’m in so much trouble.

The other day I pranked an author.

Nothing bad, I promise you! I just waited until she fell asleep and then I sorted her library by colour and tidied the mess on her desk.

She totally freaked out when she woke up, though!

Oberon went off on a litany! “You went too far, Puck! She’s my favourite writer! I have to know if Chase and Max end up together!”

So now I have to fix it. But… Won’t she freak out when I make it all a mess again?

Today's : Litany

This morning, Mr. Whiskers woke up and realized the world had changed completely. The orange cat was hovering over him as he slept and had startled him awake with a bat on the nose. Amongst a litany of silent cat-swears, he rose to face her with his eyes squinted mostly shut. He sat up tall and tilted a paw in her direction. How dare she mess with his nap! Someone around here needed some discipline. And it definitely wasn't him.

If you feel like you're about flea-sized, squished under a brutally forceful litany of ouchies from all quarters, you're not alone:Life's rough right now. The yelly parts of the world want you to feel either parasitic for having needs or useless/worthless because of your (relative,) size. But you're not a flea, you're just one person feeling small. And that's ok. Find a friend, or a soft resty spot, or a snack—just don't bite people unless they deserve it, ok?! #MastoPrompt #MicroPrompt #WSS366

Today's : Puzzle

The rain filled the view as Mr. Whiskers peered out the front picture window of the apartment. He wondered what the orange girl was doing to stay dry. He puzzled out what he might do, when there, a blurry orange streak raced across the front yard towards the window. As Mother came into the room, the orange kitty plastered herself to the wet window. Sympathies ensued and she was brought in immediately. That's one way to appeal to your rescuer's heart...

Ribcages are
roots and water
deep and broken and
whole. Some try
to make them into puzzles
equations to solve for
love or control. But they are
natural things, deserving
real honor for the
multitudes they contain, the
shift of darkness and light.
Understanding is
different than solving. For the sake of bones broken by force and
heartstrings tangled by time and
frayed by pain and fear, may we
learn the difference and embrace the depth. #MastoPrompt #MicroPrompt #WSS366

Finally, puzzle time!

I open the box, set the lid aside and free the puzzle pieces from the bag.

Both hands move in tandem, finding edge pieces, eyes scan the picture on the lid.

The edge complete, I move to sort pieces by colour, smiling.

“Captain?”

I sigh. “Yes, ship?”

“I’m approaching Carus5. Arrival in ten minutes.”

I grin. “Slow down to half speed.”

“Why? Oh no, a puzzle?”

“Shut up.”

“Slowing to quarter speed. You’re no speed puzzler.”

“Shut up!”

Let me live cozy and well. Let me be the one with fingers that know the rhythm of making, with soft yarn unspooling over my knees as I knit the hood of a great, expansive, fuzzy cloak to shield bowing shoulders from a sharp and heavy world. Let me be the one with the cushioned rocking chair in the corner, the mug of freshly brewed, honeyed tea to hand, the cat leaning against my leg in a pool of warmth and delight. Let my life be soft and good. #MastoPrompt #MicroPrompt #Wss366

Today's : Yarn

Mr. Whiskers trotted across the living room because he thought he saw something interesting scurry under the couch. Mother was sitting and knitting a scarf for her friend who recently had a birthday. The little ball of yarn had rolled free of Mother's basket and proved enticing to Mr. Whiskers' play drive. Before long, it had unraveled itself and he clumped it into a pile of tangles. She would never find it here under the couch!

Today's : Cake

There was batter all over the kitchen. Mother was so frantic to get the cake made for her friend's birthday, she dropped the bowl. What a mess. Fortunately, Mr. Whiskers loved cake batter. He had to be sneaky though because he knew he'd get chased out if he got caught. But of course, there was no problem there! Being a cat, all he had to do to cover for himself was begin an in-depth cleaning routine. No one would ever notice...

The door slammed behind her and I let the trembling take my shoulders. I hated when we had a row. My mouth was gall-bitter from the words I'd spit in her face, and her anger rang in my ears. For a moment, i couldn't breathe, couldn't think. Then I caught sight of the blue mixing bowl drying on the counter. I could bake a cake, put sweetness into the world to balance the bitter. Maybe the mixing would help smooth my thoughts, too. #MastoPrompt #MicroPrompt #WSS366
