The RPGBOT.podcast team takes a look at the classes in Pathfinder 2e's Player Core 1 and discusses which classes are and aren't good choices for new players. Will Fighter fit? Cleric is certainly correct. But is Bard better? Can we come up with other alliteration for the classes? Apparently not!

A fancy-looking ceramic plate broken into twelve pieces of varying sizes that are floating in the air and connected by a magical blue aura with small streaks of yellow lightning.
Dissembling Plate (5e) Wondrous item, common This plate looks as expensive as a fancy platter that would be at home on a noble’s dining table and just as delicate, but that’s a lie! You can throw the plate at any space within 30 feet with the same result as scattering caltrops in that space. The plate shatters into twelve sharp pieces of varying sizes, but after 1 hour the pieces magically pull themselves together and reassemble into a complete plate again with no evidence it was broken. If the pieces are very far apart or restrained in some way, they instead teleport back together. The pieces reassemble in the spot where a plurality of the pieces are, whether that’s in the space they were shattered or in a bag. An appraiser would estimate the plate to be worth 1 gp to replace if broken and not recognize it as magical unless they cast detect magic, identify, or some other similar spell, which they wouldn’t unless they become suspicious for some reason.

The plate can also be broken by being accidentally dropped or pushed without requiring a specific action to Activate with the same result as being thrown into an empty space. An appraiser would estimate the plate to be worth 1 gp if broken and not recognize it as magical unless they attempt to Identify Magic, which they wouldn’t unless they become suspicious for some reason. Activate—Throw Plate [one-action] (manipulate) Frequency once per hour; Effect You throw the plate at a target or empty space within 30 feet. If thrown at an empty space, it functions the same as scattering caltrops in the space, but the Acrobatics check DC is 15. If thrown at a target, treat the plate as a bomb—it gains the bomb and splash traits, and it deals 1d4 piercing damage, 1d4 persistent bleed damage, and 1 splash damage.

First #Pathfinder2E session. I really like this system in theory, but in practice my table insists that keeping track of all the conditions, auras, buffs and debuffs is too complicated without using a VTT, so the actual experience in practice is a bunch of people around the table, each looking at their own screen instead of at each other.
Not what I'm looking for in an in-person #TTRPG session.

i got some physical ttrpg books recently. been using pdfs exclusively before. but turns out, i enjoy using the physical books way more! classic case of: you don't know what you're missing until you try (or whatever xD)

prep was fun before, but now it's way more fun somehow and i am here for that ^^

time to raid my local seller's stores for a few more adventure paths (and hopefully the high fantasy atlas will be in stock again soon) 😌💸

Cooldown Tea Kettle (5e) Wondrous item, uncommon This brass tea kettle has a snowflake design imprinted on its side to represent its ability to make tea that cools emotions. It contains 4 servings of tea, and you can use an action to pour out and drink one serving, which grants you advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened for 1 hour. The kettle magically refills itself with 1d4 expended servings of cold tea at dawn with no brewing or ingredients needed.
Cooldown Tea Kettle (PF2) Item 4 Emotion, Magical, Mental Price 80 gp Usage held in 1 hand; Bulk L This brass tea kettle has a snowflake design imprinted on its side to represent its ability to make tea that cools emotions. It magically refills itself with cold tea so that no brewing or ingredients are needed. Activate—Pour Tea [one-action] (manipulate) Frequency once per hour; Effect You tip the kettle and four cups of tea appear on the nearest flat surface. Each cup of tea has the consumable and potion traits in addition to the kettle’s traits. A creature can Interact to drink from the cup, which grants a +1 item bonus to saves against emotion effects for 10 minutes. The cup magically disappears once a creature drinks the tea, or after 1 minute if not used.

@fn0rd from a player perspective it is not more rule-heavy than dnd5e - but you have more options. Which is nice, but can also be a bit overwhelming. The rules are very well balanced, you can play about everything without having to worry about not contributing.
From a DM perspective there are more rules, but they actually save you time and effort. A lot. As a dnd5 DM you have to balance every encounter yourself, the CR system is broken, and let's not begin with stealth...
