A picture of #PeterGabriel in colour, yet you are supposed to view it in black & white for more detail - clever!

"Peter Gabriel
To see this mosaic as it is originally intended, please use your phone and take a black and white photo. Thanks!
In order to create this picture, I have converted all available #LEGO colors into black and white hues. This allows for a much more detailed portrait,as l was able to use 20 different shades of grey (not 50)

Oggi compie 75 anni #PeterGabriel - Shock the Monkey (Sanremo '83) - Invidious iv.duti.dev/watch?v=5GOJ4RXr8i #music #UnoRadio

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
Had to listen had no choice

I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom
"Son," he said "Grab your things,
I've come to take you home."
Hey, back home

To keep in silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day
Though my life was in a rut
'Til I thought of what I'd say
Which connection I should cut

I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."
Hey, back home

When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me

Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" I said "You can keep my things,
they've come to take me home."

Genesis Birthdays

Today is Steve Hackett’s birthday. Tomorrow is Peter Gabriel’s birthday.

Let’s listen to some Genesis while wishing them both a happy birthday.

I’ve probably posted this video before. It’s actually pre-Peter Gabriel wearing costumes on stage. Not by much, but it is. Weird, huh?

The prompt is Xeno-
Peter Gabriel. “Not One of Us” 1980

Stepping away from my usual use of the prompt as literal text and going conceptual on this one, using the concept of xenophobia.

#PeterGabriel had the idea of issuing successive albums under just his name, like issues of a periodical. This made identifying his albums tough, so the album featuring this track is often referred to as “Peter Gabriel 3” (his third solo album) or “Melt” based on the cover graphic of his face seeming to melt.

The stripped-down #punk/ #postpunk aesthetic pointedly eschewed the excesses of #Prog(ressive) or #ArtRock bands, so I’ve puzzled over the likes of Peter Gabriel and #RobertFripp emerging from such bands (#Genesis and #KingCrimson respectively), and producing taut, lean music embracing/embraced by this #NewWave (pun intended). I don't know - could it be about talented people giving up drugs (or drug-soaked colleagues)?
