@fixatedpersonsunit Do not disagree, & sorry for my usual negativity, but whilst atm our lot here in Straya is far less ghastly than in magamoron Merka, lots of hateful anti-trans rhetoric is being actively imported to here from Merka, & weaponised by all the usual suspects here. In other words, whilst the chances of refugee Merkan trans peeps in Straya being actually murdered are still thankfully small, they need to be aware that it's not all unicorns & rose petals here... sadly we already have much hardcore transphobia here as well... just [so far] of a different quantum to magamoron Merka.

IMHO, It is unconscionable to make a #profit from the suffering of people. #Private companies in #HealthSector services should be abolished. Looking after the health of its society is a #public responsibility. The sooner the electorate understands this the better off we will all be.

PS. If the #grifters and #RWNJs wish to pour their immorally earned, low taxed cash into flashy private clinics because they can, I have no problems with it as long as every other citizen is afforded the very best and timely #MedicalServices available free of charge (If we taxed appropriately this would be a piece of cake).

@offbyone Ooh, cautiously pleased [not read the linked doc yet]. Afaict though, #Medicare coverage, were it even to be offered for the myriad medical & surgical procedures necessary for one's #transition, would be severely limited or even impossible, without a commensurate increase in safe skilled experienced medical professionals in Straya to actually perform said procedures. When i transitioned in the early Oughties, my decision for Thai surgeries was because of a severe lack of local surgeons at all, & the few available used obsolete techniques that i certainly eschewed. Is the situation better today?

all these trans kids will now be forced to undergo puberty into a locked-in wrong body
some of those kids won't survive it, they will suicide to avoid the GD pain
many will thence be condemned to lives of misery & shame, trying to endure existence in a body alien to them
some of them as adults might somehow eventually find the financial means for all the expensive painful surgical procedures necessary, cognisant of the fact that for many, their hated physiology locked-in by the wrong puberty cannot be fully surgically corrected
