The #CDC has so far confirmed 483 measles cases this year in at least 19 states: #Alaska, #California, #Florida, #Georgia #Kansas, #Kentucky, #Maryland, #Michigan, #Minnesota, #NewJersey, #NewMexico, #NewYork, #Ohio, #Pennsylvania, #RhodeIsland, #Tennesee, #Texas, #Vermont, and #Washington. (MN and TN are most recent.)

Public Health Ontario said Thursday there have been 572 measles cases since the outbreak began in October, 453 of them confirmed and 119 probable. Of the 42 people requiring hospitalization, two have required intensive care, and 36 have been children — most of them unvaccinated.

21 cases are reported in Alberta.

Joseph Paolino Jr. has embarrassed and disgraced the #RhodeIsland #DemocraticParty and should immediately resign from his position as National Committeeman. On Saturday March 22nd, labor unions from across the state put on a powerful, large-scale demonstration next to the Providence #Tesla outlet in protest of the Musk-led MAGA government’s systematic and authoritarian assault on our general welfare and basic democratic rights.

MobilizeJoe Paolino Has Got to Go · MobilizeJoseph Paolino Jr. has embarrassed and disgraced the Rhode Island Democratic Party and should immediately resign from his position as National Committeeman. On Saturday March 22nd, labor unions from across the state put on a powerful, large-scale demonstration next to the Providence Tesla outlet in protest of the Musk-led MAGA government’s systematic and authoritarian assault on our general welfare and basic democratic rights. In response, Paolino told the Providence Journal, “I'm not a fan of anybody that protests anything…I don't think that's the way you get change. That's the way you get publicity." This is an outrageous statement from Paolino, who is the landlord of the Tesla outlet and so, in essence, benefits from the rent paid by a person who is destroying this country. His statement is an insult to the legacy of civil rights, feminist, environmental, LGBTQ, anti-war and labor protests that have won everything that’s good in this country. It’s certainly not the leadership we need today in the face of the grave dangers posed by a second Trump Administration. What’s more, it’s wrong to continue with a local real estate mogul representing Rhode Islanders at the DNC. It’s clearer than ever that the future of our democracy is a struggle of the working class against the billionaire class. It’s time for Paolino to go. Sign our petition to let him know he needs to resign as DNC Chair immediately.

We are taking nonviolent action at Tesla to stop Musk's illegal coup. In the first month we've gone from five to over 150 protesters. This is a good site for a protest: on a busy urban avenue between two urban neighborhoods with plenty of mostly slow car traffic; lots of positive honking and waving; ample room (about 200 yards) for hundreds of protesters with wide sidewalks and grassy margins; few nearby businesses to complain about our presence; for the safety minded, you can stand on an adjacent rail overpass behind VERY stout guardrails; it is overall very positive, cops don't care, no incidents so far; this part of Providence is largely first and second generation immigrants, including several large organizations servicing refugees and newcomers -- so this site provides an opportunity to demonstrate solidarity with those most vulnerable to Musk and Trumps attacks. This is a large Tesla service and distribution center in a strip mall. The facility is set back off the road but there is a large Tesla sign, so it is clear why we're there. It isn't open during the weekend, so not the best site if you mostly want to yell at Tesla owners. This is a sign-oriented site -- tailor your message for an audience in a car 10 - 50 feet away from you going 0 - 25 mph, just wondering what the hubbub is about. Bonus points for signs in Spanish. We'll have some extra signs and supplies. Please do not park in the Popeye's lot (the only nearby business). Aim your GPS for Downing Street to find nearby on street parking. Tesla Takedown is a peaceful protest movement. We oppose violence, vandalism and destruction of property. This protest is a lawful exercise of our First Amendment right to peaceful assembly. #TeslaTakedown #BoycottTesla

Rhode Island doctor Rasha Alawieh was deported for unknown reasons, despite a court order that should have stopped the act. She is a kidney doctor who works for the Brown Medicine Division of Kidney Disease & Hypertension. She had a valid H1B visa at the time.

Over the past couple of months I've compiled a master spreadsheet breaking out enrollment in ACA plans (Qualified Health Plans & Basic Health Plans), Medicaid/CHIP coverage (both traditional & via ACA expansion) and Medicare (both Fee-for-Services & Advantage) at the Congressional District levels. With the pending dire threat to several of these programs (primarily Medicaid & the ACA) from the House Republican Budget Proposal which recently passed, I'm going a step further and am generating pie charts which visualize just how much of every Congressional District's total population is at risk of losing healthcare coverage.
