🌎 Southern lapwing (Vanellus chilensis)

The Southern lapwing is a striking crested wader with a greyish-brown back and head, black and white face markings, and a black breast band. It has a thin black crest and pinkish legs. Found throughout most of South America, and recently extended its range into southern Central America, it favors open grasslands and wetlands.
