I bought some lobelia and viola starts at the local nursery. They were planted by a local grower.
Summer and I decided to go ahead and fill some of our excess flower pots with starts. Some will find their way to friends and some will brighten up our garden.
I wanted to see if Summer could fetch for me if I showed her an example of what to find. I only brought out one of my purple gloves and asked her to go back and get the other one. About two minutes later I had the second glove. She amazes me sometimes.
We do have fun together in the garden.

This afternoon I did some mowing around Summer's front acre.
After, we treated ourselves to a short rest, in the shade.
I can hardly wait for the roses to bloom. They are all starting to bud.
Our garden isn't very fancy but it is our own personal refuge.
We are happy here.

into the garden - deep summertime
This is the first in a series of paintings that illuminate the transformative beauty of the natural world
To visually express how total immersion into the deep greenness of gardens and wild spaces can create a profound
sense of peace; restore wonder; and generate calm in an increasingly chaotic world.

Summer wanted to work in the garden this afternoon. I told her that I'm pretty tired but we could plant the newest blueberry bush.
Summer loves blueberries and lucky for us she doesn't eat them off the bush, but instead waits to be invited.
I am still feeling the tiredness and sore arm from yesterday's covid booster, so when we finished gardening, Summer volunteered to pick up the mess, and bring it into the garage. She is the best, best helper.
