@bshankar Well, normal chat does not have any encryption (I assume they at least have TLS), but Secret chats have E2EE. I just cannot compute why:
1. secret chat is not the default chat
2. why secret chats only support one client when other platforms support multi-client along with E2EE.

Has anyone ever successfully configured Telegram Desktop's location sharing feature on my Arch Linux system running KDE? I've been trying to enable this feature for a while now, but I keep running into a lot of crashes. If anyone has managed to set it up correctly, could you please share your detailed steps and any troubleshooting tips or workarounds you discovered along the way? I'm particularly interested in any configuration changes or additional packages that you had to install to get it working.

#Telegram has deleted a number of #Russia language channels, apparently on request from Russian security services. This was announced by the admin of a very popular channel VChK-OGPU (ВЧК-ОГПУ) which posted all kinds of criminal cases and scandals related to Russian authorities. The admin also noted that his channel was not only deleted, but also immediately recreated (taken over) by someone else who likely knew in advance about the legal request and used it to lure former subscribers. The new channel now posts mostly low-quality spam. This serves yet another reminder that Telegram should not be considered an independent or safe messenger or news platform, Russian authorities clearly can influence Telegram owner Pavel Durov and they use this opportunity when they need it.

It appears Telegram is willing to bend to the whims of despots:

"...the channel’s founder told journalists at Dossier Center that Telegram administrators blocked the account he used to create the channel and then deleted the channel itself...Russian authorities demand[ed] last December that Telegram delete VChK-OGPU and several other popular channels."

As of now, 16 people are confirmed, including six children. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Many people are injured. Buildings have been damaged. The missile struck an area near residential buildings: hitting a playground and regular streets. They are nothing but inhuman scumbags – everyone who can do such things. There are no decent words to describe these Russian bastards. Also today, in Kharkiv, rescue efforts continued all day after a targeted Russian drone strike. A deliberate attack by six “Shahed” drones. Sadly, 5 people were killed. 34 others were injured. In total, 78 attack drones were launched during the past night alone, 56 of them “Shaheds.” Also today, in Kherson – another targeted strike by a Russian FPV drone hit an energy facility – the Kherson thermal power plant. These strikes cannot be accidental: the Russians know exactly that these are energy facilities and that such facilities should be protected from any attacks under what Russia itself promised to the American side. Every Russian promise ends with missiles or drones, bombs or artillery. Diplomacy means nothing to them. And that’s why pressure is needed – sufficient pressure on Russia so they feel the consequences of every lie of theirs, every strike, every single day they take lives and prolong the war.

Threema 🇨🇭 is a messaging app that competes with WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram. You should take that into account when reading the article, as they write about their competitors, but otherwise it's an informative article and we learned some useful things. It helps us understand some of the issues with messaging apps and the questions we need to ask before choosing one.

Ponieważ skasowałem Zucka i nie mam już insta, fb, messengera to udało mi się zmigrować jedną (1!) osobę na Signal.
Po tygodniu "ej weź idziemy na Telegram bo tu prawie nie wchodzę a tam mam HomeAssistenta i dostaje powiadomienia z pralki"....
Mam na telegramie rodzinę i teraz jeszcze pralkę koleżanki (żonę kumpla).

Ale szczerze jako aplikacja Telegram jest dużo fajniejszy. Kurcze nawet animowane naklejki ma chyba najlepsze ze wszystkich komunikatorów. No ale coś za coś :) Signal jest bezpieczniejszy ale autentycznie nie lubię go używać

…А вот и инсайды от разработчика мессенджера "Мах" (ВК) city124 на 4PDA подоспели, когда собираются там банить #WhatsApp и #Telegram (скрины с цитат, чтоб каждое сообщение не дёргать). Также там упоминается #DeltaChat , но судя по одноимённой теме на 4PDA , речь там скорее может идти об их #Chatmail (какое-то время назад в его теме уже были жалобы, что Chatmail‘ы были недоступны или заблокированы). С нормальными е-майлами там, скорее всего, будет всё нормально, если эти самые "норм. е-майлы" не начнут бороться с зашифрованными сообщениями.
