I was eagerly waiting for this not gonna lie. We already had a list of servers that blocks threads since a long time ago, but much more interesting, we now have the list of servers that META wants to block.

This is an incredible ressource for admins if they want to take this as inspiration for their own blocklists. It’s a very long list.

Meta also has an appeal form, which is something fediverse admins should think a little bit more about.

Now, for the easiest way to get blocked by Meta real quick. It is, without surprise, to post unflagged porn and nudity!

I checked out #threadsapp for a few minutes. It's basically Twitter. My suggested feed looked nice enough but I didn't see it filling a niche I haven't filled here. Except people I know IRL are on it. And I'm never gonna be the one to convince them to leave where it's easy to be. I've learned that lesson a million times over the years.
I do hope it federates eventually and I can connect to them. But it's already uninstalled.
Meantime, I left a bio with my address here.

Instagram Threads, the messaging app, is reportedly working on introducing a "Trends" feature, according to Instagram head Adam Mosseri. The feature aims to surface popular topics and discussions on the app, allowing users to discover interesting and relevant conversations in real time.

Threads has faced criticism for its "For You" algorithm, which some users feel prioritizes creators and displays older posts. The introduction of Trends could provide users with a new way to engage with trending discussions on the platform, making Threads a more competitive offering in the real-time news and information space.

My thinking is that posts which are actually ads could be sent to accts in #TheFediverse. With the use of #AI, Fedi accts that #Meta's data mining have collected, can have a post written & tagged w/ our account name. We would see it in our regular alerts, like any toot from any friend or other acct.

Because it would show up in our normal alerts, there would be no way to filter out #spam (like we filter it out in emails).

Product #ads could be mass-posted to social media similarly to how junk emails are sent out-- the company keeps a list of account names for various products, then posts the ad with a custom address tag in each.

I don't know that #Threads or anyone else would do that, but it seems possible for them to do so eventually. Of course, if a small server did it, they would quickly get defederated & blocked. But Meta being so huge, that might be less likely to happen.

I am sad because of #twitter becoming what it's becoming since #Musk #twitterx, I wanted to reopen my shop but with people (including me) moving to 48292919 different #SocialMedia, most of them prioritising #Instagram who's algorithm and hashtag system being really bad for artists. Making Instagram my main is not an option, I feel I would be way less stressed about the situation if #threadsapp #threads #threadsapp was available in #France and #Europe. I feel a lot of them could #migrate there.
