Album: Flying the Flag
Artist: Climax Blues Band
Released: 1980

I've been on a big Yacht Rock kick and there are some excellent examples on this album. I'm talking about rock with a healthy infusion of jazz, funk, and/or soul to create a smooth, appealing sound. It has some good straight up rock tracks, too. A great record from start to finish and fantastic album art to go with it.

I'd wager this pick is the cheesiest #TuneTuesday song on the theme #AllApologies. Maybe Larry Carlton isn't #YachtRock (and apologies to my brother, who takes great offense at the term), but he surely played on plenty of yacht rock albums. This is from his 1978 s/t or 335 album. Room 335, Nite Crawler, Point It Up, and Rio Samba are standout tunes.

All right, finally got to see this and it was a'ight, but I have to ding it for talking about the whole 70s/80s West Coast session music scene without mentioning Bill Champlin's name once! #yachtrock
