It is great to be seeing something about Brattleboro again that doesn't have to do with our evidently high crime rate.
Brattleboro is not the only place that does well in these surveys of Vermont towns. So do Manchester, Montpelier, Shelburne, and Stowe. This, though, is the first I remember seeing of Dorset. Dorset is historic in several ways I know of. One of the founders of a life-saving organization, Alcoholics Anonymous, was a Dorset native. In recent times, some degree of mirth was produced when his childhood home was crashed into by a drunk driver. Simeon Pease Cheney (1818-1890), a singer in the musical Cheney Family of Vermont, settled in Dorset. He is remembered still for promoting singing conventions.

Random thought... why do we have alcoholics anonymous and not smokers anonymous?
Is it that for most parts of the world alcohol addiction pre-dates smoking as an addiction, or that the negative effects of smoking were only recently stigmatized?
Or maybe smoking isn't considered an addiction or one that deserves meetings about it?
I never thought I'd make it this far but part of me wonders if it's worth it considering all of the hate and terror organizations out there and no rights to our own bodies. The men, the Christian's, and the nazi groups, I'm scared to leave the house; might be a good time to pick up drinking again.

This was always government coercion into religion and I'm glad a court acknowledged it.

In large part, AA has become an intake facility run by whores who have sold their lives out to demons.

Currently reading On the Tail of a Comet, a #biography of Frank Buchman, founder of the #OxfordGroups (later Moral Rearmament) and from which #AlcoholicsAnonymous (#AA) sprung (the former was explicitly #Christian, the latter #Spiritual). Fascinating and confusing.
For real, curating what comes into my brain helps keep me #sober.

My friend struggled HARD to get off the cannabis in sobriety and he's celebrating 7 months of complete abstinence today 
He also has lost so much weight his feet are better so we can go on an hour long walk tonight.
Even though the reward we get for sobriety is sobriety I got him some berries to celebrate.
There was a brand new newcomer at my #AA homegroup today so I made the discussion topic be step one.
She got a white chip and someone else got a 32 year chip and it was a beautiful day.
