The Rail Life

On this day in 2012, I travelled from San Diego to Los Angeles. From my hotel, I caught the trolley (tram) to Old Town station, whence I boarded the Coaster train to Oceanside.

At Oceanside, I took a journey on the Sprinter, which runs inland to Escondido on a line that is commuter rail by day and shortline freight by night. The loading gauge of the freight cars is larger than that of the Siemens Desiro passenger trains, so the edges of the platforms fold up after the last service each day.

After the Sprinter, I caught the Amtrak California Pacific Surfliner to Los Angeles Union Station. Those who know this route will recognise that my photo of the Amtrak set is at San Diego. This is because all of the shots I took of this train at Oceanside were rubbish.

Slightly related, I was using an HTC Desire HD for all photos this day.

So, I felt I needed a #coaster for my #desk, but I wanted to stay true to the #hobby!

I printed this on a #creality #CR6SE. 0.4mm nozzle for both pieces with Creality #ABS.

I wanted a red filament that is a bit more of a candy or apple red, and this came out more of a peach color. Currently, I am not sure why because the actual #filament on the roll is more red. So it might be my temperature of 250°C that I am printing at. I will experiment with lower temps to see if the color is affected.

I am able to print ABS easily because I have a 60°C heated #enclosure.
