Furthermore, archaic bail laws leave defendants sitting in jail for *years* awaiting trial.</p><p>And yet we keep hiring more police who, needless to say, keep arresting more people.</p><p>This doesn’t scale. Despite push back from residents and local leaders, #Mississippi’s state legislature is moving forward with an unconstitutional bill that would remove #Jackson residents’ rights to #elect judges and prosecutors. Instead, the #CourtSystem would be constructed of state appointees.
