An intercepted package from Italy contained 60,000 euros in 200 euro banknotes, which appeared highly authentic. However, technical analysis led Customs to suspect they were counterfeit.
Sophisticated euro forgeries are increasingly rare, as the currency includes multiple security features that make counterfeiting difficult.

Importer pays tariff to their home government. Tariff is collected during customs clearance. In the US the tariff is paid to US Customs and Border Protection Service https://www.cbp.gov/ at the border usually by a licensed US broker representing the importer.
The broker handles customs declaration and clearance, goods valuation and classification, all documentation and procedures for clearing the canola oil through customs.
The primary valuation method is transaction value, other methods are used if that is not available. WTO Valuation Agreement determines how customs valuation is done.
Frequent exporters know the commodity codes for their products and tariffs and duties customer has to pay, and informs the buyer beforehand.

Der Bundesfinanzhof (BFH) ist das oberste Bundesgericht für Steuern und Zölle in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
Das Balkendiagramm zeigt die 50 vom BFH am häufigsten zitierten Normen in seinen Beschlüssen und Urteilen ab dem 1. Januar 2010 (Entscheidungsdatum), die bis zum 14. Januar 2025 (Veröffentlichungsdatum) in der amtlichen Datenbank des BFH veröffentlicht wurden.
Dieser Zeitraum ist deshalb wichtig, weil es einige Monate dauert, bis Entscheidungen des BFH online veröffentlicht sind. 2024 ist daher noch nicht ganz vollständig.
Die Normen sind maschinenlesbar in den HTML-Texten der Entscheidungen hinterlegt, wurden von mir extrahiert und für diese Übersicht mit R gezählt, sortiert und visualisiert.
Der Source Code und hochauflösende Fassungen des Diagramms sind zusammen mit dem Datensatz hinterlegt.
