A male green-winged teal swimming in a pond with a very clear reflection in the relatively still water. The duck is multicolored with a black bill mostly reddish-brown head but a bright green splash extending from the black eye back down toward the neck. A northern shoveler duck is seen in flight moments after taking off from a pond, leaving a large splash in the water behind it. Not my favourite sort of #birding but when a drake Red-crested Pochard appeared at Saltram House, I had to have a look. Got there before the #NationalTrust property opened and there he was. Colourful bird day!!

This guy chased the other dude for minutes, occasionally biting him in the ass, while his girlfriend sheepishly followed him around apologizing for his behavior.

Anas clypeata

Die Löffelente hat wohl den Namen wegen des sehr prägnanten Schnabels. Insbesondere ist spannend, dass das Löffelentenpaar immer im Kreis schwimmen um zu fressen. Anscheinend wird ein Strudel oder ähnliches erzeugt, um an die guten Sachen zu kommen. So oder so ein witziges unterfangen.
