The #freezer isn't big enough for #batches of #homemade #chickenbroth. A can is £1.90😱 & £1.40 on #specialoffer. That's #extortion! Looked at the #Ingredients (below). Shouldn't this be called carrot & rice #broth?

Water, Carrot, Cooked Rice (Water, Rice), Potato, Swede, Onions, Chicken (2.5%), Peas, Cornflour, Modified Maize Starch, Salt, Flavouring, Chicken Fat, Yeast Extract, Parsley, Chicken Stock (Water, Chicken, Chicken Fat, Salt, Yeast Extract), Ground White Pepper

Loud bang at midnight... cautiously walked to kitchen and discovered #OilSpill... Investigation underway but all signs point to the ignorant chef who #RRR (#Reuse) glass bottles to store bulk #OliveOil from the OB Peoples' Market in the #freezer. Should have left more air in the bottle and cracked open the lid for thawing. I guess olive oil expands when it melts, which is the opposite of water ice. Fortunately I was asleep when it went boom 💥

Dear friends of #segmentation #fault on Linux,

Holy mother of COD. This #error came up this #morning and that would be on my #default #internal #SD card. Panic attack! Must #fix or find a way to fix, otherwise anything might happen … :ablobslurp:

In ye olde days we used to put a non working #harddrive in the #freezer for a couple of hours (yes really) and this would give us time to back up #data.

Well I am using #Manjaro and had to have a go with #pacman from the #terminal because the error was on my manjaro #pacman-manager (a GUI front end).

The #GUI seems to have started working again after I used a #clean #command (not even sure what I cleaned)

I DON’T WANT to use a terminal command. I never remember commands. However it was #simpler than I expected.

Yeah and it took me hours. I need #coffee, #chocolate and a #Penguin #medal! :ablobpats:

Hope you have a better start to #Boxing day … :ablobdancer:

Did you know you can freeze whole tomatoes? There is a bumper crop of them in my part of the world and baskets of them are super cheap.
I rinse them off, pat them dry, then wrap them up in small bundles of 1 to 4 and pop them in the #freezer. They're great for adding to those winter stews and curries that ask for only 1 or 2 #tomatoes. And you don't have to open a whole can just to use part of it, or buy those pricey cardboard tomatoes in the winter.

Edit: No, I don't bother blanching them.

The #freezer #experiments for #diy excess #solar power usage/"storage" ("charge" salt water to ice during the day, let it melt during the night) continue. Today: duty cycle with dust, cleaned and currently running: 16x 120x120mm cooling fans. Theory: if the radiator stays 10°C cooler the compressor needs to work with 10°C less temperature difference = better efficiency / lower duty cycle.

The #lab’s #freezer contained over 20 years of research, including cell cultures and samples, ***to which a “small temperature fluctuation of three degrees would cause catastrophic damage***,” according to the lawsuit filed with the Rensselaer County Supreme Court.

Um, #bullshit.

A thaw, sure. But no lab freezer containing cell lines is kept at -3° C.

I stuck a bluetooth temp sensors into the freezer section of our refrigerator and it's being graphed with the chest freezer that's downstairs. I would have thought the upstairs freezer had much wilder swings. Maybe there’s a defrost circuit in the deep freeze? Hmm, need to plot energy use next time.
