Remembering my childhood, when the babysitter sent me to the store at 10am with a note to buy her cigarettes.

When I got back, she'd locked herself in the house with her boyfriend, and didn't unlock the doors until 4pm, just before my parents got home.

One of those things that happened so gradually that I didn't notice it was the slow disappearance of Au Bon Pain. One day the one in South Station was gone and, huh, those used to be everywhere, what happened?

And then you look it up and discover that it started out being a bakery headquartered in #Boston using French equipment and recipes and then went through the private equity meat grinder, moved to Texas, and mostly turned into Panera and that's a perfect metaphor for the #GenX experience.

“As I grew older and became more politically aware, I developed a severe aversion to Norris, after finding out that he ran a nasty rightwing thinktank. I couldn’t understand how the BBC would employ someone with such extreme views. Then again, vetting children’s TV presenters wasn’t exactly the BBC’s forte back then.”

The Guardian · ‘Dedication’s what you need’: memories of Record Breakers as BBC reboots showBy David Batty

My son is coming over later today and he'll be passing a store that has a thing I can't get at my usual store, so I asked him to pick it up for me.
My #Millennial GF laughed and said "that is so #genx . Anyone else would have found a link to the product online and sent that, but you had to take a photo of yourself pointing to the thing." "What, I was in the fridge it was literally quicker!?"
