Last month, Nicholas Gilbert received delivery of #grain for the 1,400 cows he tends at his #dairy farm in #Potsdam, #NewYork, 20 miles from the #Ontario border. The feed came w/ a surprise #tariff of $2,200 tacked on. “We have small margins...I had a contracted price on that grain delivered to my barn. It was supposed to be so much per ton. & they added that tariff right on top because it comes from a #Canadian feed mill"

The Russian-controlled territories of #Ukraine account for about 1% of #Russia's gross domestic product, but some economists believe that their share could grow quickly if they remain with Russia when the war ends. The regions already provide around 5% of Russia's #grain harvest.

CES 2025, January 7, 2025, 3pm. I started in the West Hall, the automotive section. I was surprised at how uncrowded it was (compared to the crowds I had to fight through to get there). The crowd and exhibitors seemed just a little phlegmatic. (Perhaps I was projecting, as I had a nagging cough from an Xmas chest-cold.)

#1. Folks in West Hall looking at a car and talking. Notice how empty the floor is. In later shots, it will feel more crowded, because it was.
A man looking up at a very large piece of equipment (which is mostly out of image to the left). There is a race car between him and the equipment. I don't know why there was a racecar in the Kubota exhibit. Doesn't seem like consumer electronics, and Kubota is mostly construction equipment. On the other hand, I don't know why there was a lot of construction equipment at CES. There will be some more shots in the next set.
The pentaprism on the Canonflex will pop off, giving you a waist-level finder. I like that on my TLR, but I decided it's not really practical on a 35mm camera -- impractical to focus while on the move. Still, it's an easier way to include people's feet than crouching -- or at least less obtrusive. Again, you can see that the floor really was not very crowded. This group also is evidence for my comment in yesterday's posts about typical footwear (and attire) at CES. Not the trade shows of my youth. Of course, not being satisified with carrying a 65-year-old camera film, I was in a suit and dress shoes -- no tie, natch, it *is* 2025. My get-up may account for some of the quizzical expressions in subsequent shots...
