Bestial Human Grasshopper
Hand drawn Ink art by William McAusland, writing by Colin Chapman

The bestial human grasshopper is herbivorous and relatively inoffensive, but is still regarded with distrust by humans due to the tendency of these mutants to sometimes enter frenzied feeding phases as a locust, devouring vast quantities of valuable foodstuffs. They are only permitted entry to human communities if accompanied by trusted humans or mutant humans, and even then they will be instructed to keep away from human food supplies and crops on pain of death.

I finally watched this amazing talk by Rear Admiral Dr. Grace #Hopper that she held back in 1982, before I was even born.

I'm in complete awe at her stage presence and her talk there. One of many money quotes for me:

"You manage things. You lead people."

What a role model!

Thanks to @leyrer for sharing that a few days ago and thus bringing it to my attention, that was an amazing talk indeed!

Grace Brewster Murray Hopper was born on December 9, 1906, in New York City, New York. She exhibited an early aptitude for mathematics and technology, disassembling alarm clocks to understand their mechanics. Hopper's educational journey began at Vassar College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics in 1928.

"House by the Railroad," Edward Hopper, 1925.

Another Hopper for the spooky season...looks like a perfect haunted house, eh? The house may seem lovely but it's right by the tracks and there's no trees visible...something's up here, but we have no idea what.

A new post on my “Walking Thoughts” blog, “Brace Yourself: Natural Images for the Trinity.”

An excerpt: “Here I want to propose yet another natural image for the Trinity, which has lately dawned on me, for your consideration. See what you think about it. It came upon me this way: I turned my desk chair around. There, affixed to the shelves of a bookcase, I saw prints of three extraordinary paintings.” hpaulsantmire.net/brace-yourse #luther #trinity #hopper #rembrandt #santmire #paulsantmire #art
