Dismembered
In the dust under the frozen
Sky where sun should be, and
Warmth, the sirens are outwailed
By the mourning voices screaming
Songs of sadness and death,
Of loss and dying, never seeing
The faces most loved again.
Under cover of the molten rocks
Of what were houses, bodies
Move from hand to hand over
The heads of these singers, notes
As clear as the night. This is
The #lament for the dismembered:
Limbs, families, people, lands,
And a world ripped apart.

The for 16 March, 2025 is:
Mother once again had the new orange cat in a head lock. Her ears were a mess and she let out a lamenting wail as Mother dosed her ears with goop for the third day in a row. Mr.Whiskers retreated under the bed until the torture was over. Mother seemed to like assaulting the new cat with many things. Mr. Whiskers felt very lucky that he wasn't the center of his mothers attention right now. Hmmm. What could he possibly get away with?

What’s astonishing is that a war that was embarked on so willingly, with so much unanimity, and with so much excitement could be later remembered as a story of pure #victimhood 🔥🔥🔥

Yet before the war was even fully over, Constantin #Zureiq published a passionate #lament of the #Arab failure to defeat #Israel, The Meaning of the Disaster [#Nakba], giving birth to the word that would be used from as a shorthand for the traumatic #Arab defeat in that war.
