@cdarwin That's a good article. A year ago I saw one single firefly out on my porch. It was the first I had seen in years. This year, none. When I was a kid they were all over the place.

Here is another Milky Way photo that I took in 2016. I took a test photo earlier on this evening and noticed a firefly streaking across the foreground, and then spent the next several hours looking for an interesting landscape to capture. I ended up coming across this grassy area with trees and hundreds of fireflies.
The foreground is a few 20 second exposures stacked.
