In Mexico, deceased Ancestors return to the living world for one day a year. It is the living's responsibility and privilege to honor and commune with them. That takes the form of creating an #offrenda with gifts such as mezcal or tequila, fruit, candy sugar skulls, and a special bread. The offrenda has pictures of those who now live in the world of the afterlife. Sometimes, the offrenda is on the grave itself and the surviving relatives sit there, tell anecdotes of when their relatives were alive, and drink #mescal or #tequila with them.
It is a beautiful #tradition. We do not mourn the dead, we celebrate their life.
