I actually had it in my wishlist for a while, hoping for an eventual discount, and all of a sudden this dropped!

Finally took the time to set up some trusty Windows audio plugins in Linux today, courtesy wine + yabridge. Now I've got Sonible, Arturia, and FabFilter plugins in my Debian 12 system! What more could you ask for, seriously?

(Okay, you could ask for UAD and Soundtoys, but then you'd just be greedy.)

Two displays, one running Reaper and one running two Windows VST plugins (Sonible Smartlimit and an Arturia diode compressor). A small totoro in front of the monitors blocks the sunlight from a skylight with his black umbrella.

As my Apple Silicon adventures continue, I discovered another quirk today. Apparently if your DAW isn't running using Rosetta, none of the plugins that require Rosetta will be available. However I'm not sure this really applies anymore, since all of my Plugin Alliance plugins show up & I know that none of them have been ported to Apple Silicon. The page was created for 1st generation M1 processors, so perhaps at generation 5 (M5's) this no longer applies.

Native Instruments help webpage that explains how to get plugins that only support Intel to show up in Logic on an Apple Silicon based Mac using Rosetta. Page was created for 1st generation M1 processors, we're now up to 5th generation M5 processors.

I have been telling some friends/family about my #musicproduction on #linux Project. I’m suprised that I sometimes need to explain what an OS is, so I can explain what Linux is.

There’s a long way for many people to know, that Windows is not the only thing you can have on your PC. And Windows is not what “a computer” looks like on the screen.

I am currently testing some amazing #compressor, #amp simulation, and #eq #plugin (s) by a renowned vendor that previously did not support #linux.
It honestly feels unreal to me to have those outstanding plugins run perfectly smooth and natively within #bitwigstudio on #linuxaudio. 🫣
I expect an announcement within a couple of weeks, as the beta testing is still ongoing and minor bugs are fixed.
I am super excited about another vendor supporting this great platform for #musicproduction. 🤓😜
