Update on Rosie Pearl—the hummingbird that made a nest and laid her eggs in my back patio string lights. The twins keep growing! Swipe to see a progression of their growth. They look huge in this picture, but they are still very tiny hummingbirds. Rosie doesn’t comes as often as she used to. These babies are almost ready to take flight! 😍

Storks enjoying the last sunbeams of the day.

Also enjoying the pre-egg time. They're circling over the fields together, hunting mice, bringing in big chunks of grass to upholster the nest and shag at least 4 times a day (probably more).

And that's despite me chainsawing and impact drivering pretty much next to them today (the firewood store is almost under their nest). Don't seem to mind. At least I didn't hear any complaints. Good neighbours.

#Welt! Bist du noch da?

Ja! Und die
#Schwalben auch wieder!

Jaja, ich weiß, wenn die nicht gerade im
#Nest sitzen, dann klappt das mit dem #Fotoknipsen nicht so richtig. Freue mich trotzdem!

Ansonsten +3°C und immer noch trocken. Ideal um zur
#Arbeit zu radeln.

Bleibt senkrecht und gesund!

This is getting out of hand. Now there are two of them!

A second stork arrived and after a few brief seconds of nuptials, Mrs. Adebaran moved in and they had a beak clap-a-thon together.

A few seconds later, kinky stuff occured - exclusively available to our paying OnlyStorks subscribers!

Turn on the sound for some beak clattering!

Adebar is back. Not seen him since last week, so I thought he may have found a different nest. Or maybe this is a different stork, no idea. Perhaps he had to get used to the new farm owners and more activity first. Or was snoozing somewhere after the long trip. Or went to MiceDonalds and devoured 23 McRodent in a row. 🤷‍♂️

Well, glad he's back.

We had this weird steel bridge in the back of the barn leading to a disused outhouse. It was in the way of todays operations, so I hooked it up and dragged it away. Alas, as I turned around to see if it's following nicely, I see a field mouse sprinting away in panic mode, the steel roof of its previously impenetrable fortress ripped away by force majeure, its safe tunnels and carefully stored acorn stashes exposed to open air!

Oops. Sorry mouse.

I previously posted about this little hummingbird that has made a nest in my backyard patio for the third year in a row. And since I don’t have my dad to share these with anymore, I decided to share with you all. I HAVE AN EXCITING UPDATE!! Rosie Pearl’s babies have hatched!! Meet the little twins—with eggshell still in their tiny feathers. 😍 Rosie is being a good mom and making sure to keep them feed. Both pictures are of her feeding them. ❤️

And the same picture I've been taking for the past two weeks. (the same as above, but zoomed)

It's so depressing to see. And that they did it today, right when the nest was completed.
I don't know if you can see on the picture below but Ms Crow is in the nest. I don't know if she's about to lay eggs, if she has done it (I hope she hadn't yet). I'll know more about that later.

Nest update: Day 14 (it's yesterday's picture. No big difference with the day before. Maybe the outside part of the nest if finished and they started working on padding the inside. We'll see in a few hours if Day 15 looks different.
