A comparison of two #sauna #kiuas (stoves). Heating up in winter conditions (around 0C or just under) in an outdoor timber building. After initial small load to get going:

* Old #Harvia Pro 36. During third load would hit 50C (still burning). Fill it up, head indoors to get drinks, undress etc and about 60C to start sauna

* #Muko #Veto 2 (small Helsinki company with lot of history). Reached 55C during first load (still burning). Fill it up, indoors. Back at the sauna and it's >80C

I will shortly be doing my annual Eurovision preview, deciding which country or countries to bet on. Before going in I already know that I *really* like this year's Swedish entry! Which is completely bonkers and yet I can't take my eyes and ears away from it. youtube.com/watch?v=WK3HOMhAeQ #Eurovision #Music #ESC #Sweden #sauna

Continued thread

The old Harvia flue connector is not lying 100% flat on the new kiuas. A millimetre or two off (so maybe slightly diagonally placed). Also it’s not tight but can be wiggled side to side a few millimetres. I’m not sure if that is normal but the measurement for the old flue connector should be right (115mm). It is 20 years old, if that matters…

New #sauna #kiuas installed (#Muko #Veto 2) to replace the old #Harvia. But it was quite the smoke sauna when we tried it. Burning very slow and poorly (unless you open the door, when you get flames coming out the front). Smoke comes out the front and a bit from the flue-stove connection. So the flue is not drawing as it should. Outside for the pre burning things seemed to be working well. Otherwise the Veto heated up well despite the slow and bad burning and löyly nice.

Any tips to look at?
