I think this is really nice, the style of paint application seems to match what is painted I guess? Fuzzy blossoms and jagged, expressive green among maybe scrubby dry grasses and other stuff. Maybe because of the light in the sky I imagine this stuff as being wet with dew which will burn off later in the day. I could have this on my wall forever, it has a little zing of tragic impermanence or idk what

A roughly painted green thistle-y plant rising out of a scrub of brown grasses. In the distance is hazy dark zone that probably indicates a far horizon, and above that a hazy blue sky with some pinkish clouds that are in tune with the pink and purple of the fuzzy blossoms of the plant

While walking the dog today I came across this big fuzzy beauty. Like many people I suppose, I grew up thinking of a #thistle as a weed. Nowadays I don't mind them though. It's probably my favourite "weed".

Golden Thistle II

These thistles are a subject that for some reason draws me in. In the spring time they have a light purple flower that dies as the temperatures rise and by late fall the green outer leaves and the purple flower take on a nice golden glow. Much like the grasses and many other plants in arid California.

Golden Thistle II This is an image of a thistle found growing alongside of a hiking trail in Northern California. These are common throughout the area I live but most people don't really pay attention to them other than to keep back away from them as they do have sharp little needles on the stem. The outer ring of the flower are some relatively wide petals that have turned brown and they are starting to curl do to the lack of water. The center of the thistle has soft brush like leaves

A welter of golden brown stems and dried flower/seed heads, all arching from left to right. Only the one in centre is fully in focus, with its whitish fluff tipped seeds still in place (golden in low afternoon sun) Clusters of prickles remain on the stems here and there. The background is snow, and stems blur into the background, accentuated by a white vignette effect applied around the edges. A slight filter has also been applied, giving a slight violet tint.
