Contrary to what you see on movies and TV, knocking a person out with a blow to the head is actually very dangerous. If you suffer a knock to the head and lose consciousness, even for a moment, it could mean you have a concussion and or even a brain bleed. A trip to the emergency room is a good idea to be safe.

Williamina Fleming worked as a maid for Prof. Edward Charles Pickering, director of the Harvard College Observatory. Pickering was often frustrated with his employees and would complain: "My Scottish maid could do better!" So in 1879, he proved it and hired Fleming. She discovered a total of 59 gaseous nebulae, over 310 variable stars and 10 novae. She also discovered the famous Horsehead Nebula and the first white dwarf.

Platypuses glow under ultraviolet light, and biologists have no idea why. This is in addition to being duck-billed, web-footed, beaver-tailed mammals that lay eggs, have venom glands and elecro-reception. At this point I think they're just dropping hints that they're probably from another planet.

Philip A. Contos was part of a motorcycle rally protesting New York state's mandatory helmet law in 2011 when he crashed his Harley-Davidson and sustained fatal head injuries. An autopsy determined that a helmet would have saved his life.

Victor Lustig sold the Eiffel Tower twice. A skilled conman, he pretended to be a government official and negotiated bidding with scrap merchants for its sale. When he took their money and ran, they were too embarrassed to report it. So he returned to Paris and did it again. He even managed to scam gangster Al Capone. You'd think with his talents, he would have gone into politics or religion instead, but oh well.

The One Sextillion Pengó note was the highest denomination banknote ever printed. A sextillion is one followed by 36 zeroes, or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. It was briefly printed during the Hungarian hyperinflation after World War II, where its value was equivalent to 12 US cents.

Fiat sent anonymous love letters to 50,000 women in Spain, as part of a marketing campaign for the Fiat 500 in 1994. However, the response was not positive, as most of the women thought they were being stalked.
Fiat was sued and had to pay a fine.

In South Korea and Japan, Valentine's Day is celebrated in reverse, with women giving men chocolates and cards. In Japan, there are two "categories" of gifts. "Giri-choco" are gifts for friends and co-workers, and it's purely platonic. But "Honmei-choco" are gifts specifically for boyfriends / husbands. There's also White Day on March 14 in both countries, where the men reciprocate with gifts, usually white chocolate.
