This is Paul Youd, an 87 year old vegan ultra-runner that I had the honour of documenting his latest ultra-marathon adventure, 50km around the city of Bath!

You read that right, 87 years old, VEGAN and smashing ultras!

He was supported by @runningonplants and their team and everyone made it to the finish line, inspired by Paul and his story! Make sure to check out their wonderful organisation.

Very happy this week, I managed a 3.5 mile run without any pain for the first time this year. The 8 week rest after marathon training has done me good.
Also excited as on Saturday I will be taking part in the practice run for our new local Park Run at Muncaster Castle. It’s going to be an epic Park Run as Muncaster is an awesome location.

I made a Mango Habanero Chilli sauce. The recipe said the sauce would have a medium heat, medium in comparison to the surface of the sun! I hoping it may mellow with time in the fridge.
Further news I did my first run since covid and injury. 2 miles slow pace, my lungs were burning but my HR and legs were good. I plan to do at yoga session after every run as my hip flexors are tight.

I’ve been a little quiet on socials recently but only due to being so flipping busy.
Carlisle half tomorrow so I’m enjoying a day of carb, protein, fat and tea loading. Scrambled tofu for my second breakfast. Sorry you’re probably sick of seeing my breakfasts.
So hopefully tomorrow goes well, I’m nursing some old man niggles so treating this my long training run and I’ll try and stop myself from being competitive.

Illness update: I’ve been suffering a heavy cold for almost 2 weeks which has wiped out week 1 & 2 of marathon training. The worst of it all is I’ve completely lost my sense of taste and smell. I’m sitting here eating this miso noodle soup and all I can taste is hot chilli. #vegan #veganrunner
