HIMMELI II

In the frame of our project PRESERVED // Rågens rike / Finnland 204/25 we dealt with the traditional himmeli objects that are made of rye straw and are now used as a traditional Christmas decoration. In the former days they would be used to ask for a good harvest. In our winter chapter (November 2024) we asked the people of the area where our project is taking place (Vörå in Finland-Sweden) to join us to create a huge himmeli by using light tubes. The village came and in joint forces the ephermeral himmeli installation was created.

The whole project is carried out with the help of the village.

Our next stay will take place soon, stay tuned.

In memoriam the left ear Huawei Freebuds 4i earphone, that jumped at opportunity to join the fishes in the Gulf of Bothnia. You came in to this world unloved but found home with me and served well. I will remember your dedication and somewhat creative approaches to UX.

"Awareness: off"

This happened midway of an episode of @postgresfm . I hope that the local herring population will appreciate the show at least as much as I do.

At sea, with some forest covered islands just visible in the horizon. The sky is mostly clear and light blue, with some darker uniform clouds close to the horizon. The waves are uneasy but haven't yet decided whether to coalesce into bigger ones or whether they'd like to go at it alone.

A picture through leafless small trees of a wooden wall whose last coat of paint was red. In the middle of said wall is a beautifully practical window frame which hols two tall panels of glass windows. The paint has started to peel already some time ago from the window frame. Through the window, one might just see the window on the opposite wall of the building. On the window sill of that window there must just be a bottle and on the other side of the window there seems to be a pile of snow. The building is in a need of some fixing up, but who isn't these days.

cold winter day today. at least the sun is shining.

Olen katsonut tämän Ylen uusimman seurantadokkarisarjan #Pilsnerraggarna / #Kierroksilla.

Siinäpä #sarja lukemattomille #BättreFolk yms. #ennakkoluulo ja suomenruotsalaisista vaaliville.

Totuus kovin toisenlainen; ennakkoluuloja huomattavasti moninaisempi - tässäkin asiassa.

Sarjassa seurataan nuoria, ruotsinkielisiä, pohjanmaalaisia raggareita viiden jakson verran.

Some small mementos from a short trip couple of days back. Waves & open spaces nom nom.

Mainland Finland forms an thin line of dark green in the horizon between a blue sea and ridiculously large soft light blue to white gradient sky. There are also some more common looking clouds closer to the horizon, but they are microscopic compared to the main filling softness.

A black and white close up of waves when there's just a slight breeze, exposing the various different directions and unsynchronized ridges that superimpose on top of each other to form the end result. Beautiful chaos.

Peaceful blue sea meets high altitude clouds in the horizon, with a watercolour-like gradation in light blue purple to white color palette. There is a small lighthouse just at the end of horizon to the right as well as other indistinct features far away. I think one of them is an official weather station.

A peaceful sea surface leads to an dark green covered island above which clouds at different levels of the atmosphere combine into a display of drama.

Had a most delightful visit on the sea shore today. I think I could watch waves for a whole day. I should try to do this more often.

A sandy beach against which some waves roll. There are several pines growing from the sandy dunes, behind which a beach volley net is hiding. It was a pleasantly windy day with a taste of sea water in the air. However, no one is swimming and the red lifeguard ring is hanging on a stand that it shares with a rescue ladder and something that looks like a long stick, perhaps to punish the unruly.

Some tickly beach grass growing from a sand dune between two pines that stand on the beach. A smaller pine stands jealous on the side. The sea almost seems peaceful, since most of the waves are hidden by the sand mount and one can only observe some farther parts of the sea.

Across the rolling waves, there are some islands very far away. The waves are coming toward a peninsula and it looks like they all want to meet me at the same time. Some larger rocks are jutting from the waves as well, but they seem to be in good spirit. The clouds are far away in the horizon and there might even be one cumulonimbus there. Sky is otherwise clear and filled with Finnish summer.
