So, here’s the thing: The photo is from Unsplash, and it is properly credited. You can view it here: https://unsplash.com/photos/a-close-up-of-a-cell-phone-on-a-car-dashboard-MQYdpvztfsE
The original article, which is hilarious, is here: https://midrange.tedium.co/issues/the-great-key-fob-caper/
I looked at the website where this was linked to see if I could find more info. Seems real!
I looked up the name of the lawyer, and it’s absolutely an AI-generated picture of a guy. As is every other employee of this firm:
So I look up the address, which is located on the fourth floor of its building. (Which I should note appears to be a one-floor structure in the also possibly-AI-generated lead image.)
And here’s what I find:
“Kindly understand that simply removing the image does not conclude the matter.” No, we need your backlink or we will threaten you with a lawsuit from our fourth-floor office in a single-floor building.
@ernie it's nuts people will go to these lengths instead of just starting a small business or volunteering at a shelter or anything else. your backlink must be potent
@ernie
Three basement levels?
@AlisonW Like the Alamo
@ernie Maybe it's trying to be a hybrid international firm, where the US uses gavels and does not.
@ernie Up in the tallest tree?
@Karen5Lund lol sure a law firm fits up there
